Mainstreaming Universal Accessibility in urban infrastructure projects in Yemen

Mainstreaming Universal Accessibility in Urban Infrastructure – Lessons from Yemen

At Ehaar International, we view inclusive infrastructure as a cornerstone of equitable development. This World Bank report "Mainstreaming Universal Accessibility in Urban Infrastructure Projects in Yemen"aligns with our mission to support communities affected by fragility and conflict through inclusive planning and rebuilding strategies.

The report offers practical guidelines for integrating universal accessibility into urban infrastructure, drawing from the experience of the Yemen Integrated Urban Services Emergency Project (YIUSEP-II). It emphasizes the need for accessible design in public facilities, streetscapes, and transportation systems particularly in conflict-affected contexts where the needs of people with disabilities, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups are often overlooked.

Ehaar International recognizes the importance of these efforts in shaping more inclusive, resilient cities. This work reinforces our commitment to advancing infrastructure solutions that center dignity, access, and participation for all especially in fragile and post-crisis environments.

Building the capacity of tomorrow’s college and university leaders

Virginia Tech LCI Faculty Development Initiative
At Ehaar International, we recognize the importance of leadership development in driving institutional change and building resilient systems especially in education and public service. The Faculty Development program by Virginia Tech’s Leadership and Culture Institute (LCI) aligns closely with our values. It focuses on cultivating faculty leaders who can shape inclusive, mission-driven environments in higher education.

Our Executive Director, Dr. Wafa Al-Daily, contributed to this initiative during her tenure at Virginia Tech, bringing insights that continue to inform Ehaar’s capacity building and consulting efforts. We invite our partners and peers to explore the LCI Faculty Development Flyer to learn more about this model of leadership training.
